It is hard to believe that the first text message was sent only twenty years ago, in December of 1992. The first text message was actually sent by accident. British engineer Neil Papworth was trying to wish his boss a Merry Christmas, but instead he ended up inventing a new form of communication. At the time, there were no phones that could send or receive text messages, so Papworth had to use a computer keyboard to send his message.
